EOK Building
The house of the new time
Innovative, safe, environmentally friendly
The main motivation for these houses was the need of people, caused by war or natural disasters became homeless.
A prefabricated EOK house can be assembled and erected within a few days. The simple EOK house requires no foundation, is earthquake and hurricane proof, and generates its own electrical power.
The idea of the EOK house
The basic idea of the EOK house design, to create the largest possible usable living space with a minimum of building materials, was first developed in 1980.
After four years of research and development, the final design was finalized and lyrically written in 1984. It was then published in The Astral Twins in 2008.
There are two approaches to construction:
The first was a community project using local materials such as bamboo or renewable
Pine and ash wood were used.
The second approach is to use prefabricated sections including all plumbing and
Build electrical installations which are then assembled and built on site. (A sort of giant Lego kit)
The main motivation for these homes is the need of people made homeless by war or natural disasters. A prefabricated EOK house could be assembled and erected within a few days.
The simple EOK house requires no foundation, is earthquake and hurricane proof, and generates its own electrical power.
Although the basic structure can be built from various materials such as wood, bamboo, aluminum or plastic, the ideal solution would be to mass produce the components from plastic, similar to a giant Lego set. If the plumbing and electrics were included in the parts, the entire building could be erected and operational within days of being delivered by ship, road or air. Because usage would occur in places where infrastructure fails, these structures create their own power independent of area supply.
With additional features, the structure could float on water and be suitable for use in floodplains where construction is currently banned.
As a floating structure, it can also be used in estuaries and coastal waters.
This would give him two additional sources of energy: tides and waves.
The larger the building, the more efficient it becomes at generating alternative energy. A structure capable of harvesting solar, wind, tidal and wave power respectively would not only produce enough electricity for its own use.
The energy could be used for water desalination, air treatment and for gray and black water treatment, allowing for a completely self-sufficient use of the house.
